Ode To An American Flag
Raise the flag proudly, my friends
As the dawn of a new day begins.
For here in the land of the free,
Of justice and liberty
The tears of our mothers’ were cried
As our beloved fathers died.
Salute the flag with honor, brigade
For the foundation of our country was laid
With the blood and the sweat and the tears
Of a people throughout the years,
So that we may fly our history
As a symbol for all to see.
Pledge to the flag one and all.
Stand together, triumph or fall.
With loyalty, courage and trust,
One by one we do as we must.
American hearts beating true
To uphold the red, white and blue.
Lower the flag gently, friend
When the day comes to an end.
This flag has seen any a war,
Been blood stained, shot and tore.
Yet its in the shadow of “Old Glory”
That we tell this nation’s great story.
