Legends: Day of the Dead

Dia de Los Muertos (day of the dead), is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico. However it has spread throughout North and South America. A Native American holiday created by the Mexica (Aztec) people to honor the dead; not to see them as gone, but to celebrate their second stage of life. Unlike Western culture, death is consider the continuation of life, a second step of existence. It is not a holiday where we dress to scare off spirits as Halloween. Nor is it about trick or treating for candy. We dress to be a part of those "not seen". It is believe that those who have pass and those alive are together in this two days (November 1st & November 2nd). As tradition, pour a shot on the ground for all of our ancestors and light candles!
