Legends: Navajo Code Talkers

This is not a traditional 2nd Sunday Legend post that I usually writr=e about, but the fact of the matter is that these men re all legends in their own right.
On December 7, 1941 The United States was brought into WWII with the bombing of Pearl Harbour. After the devastation, Philip Johnston, a WWI veteran who had grown up on the Navajo reservation (despite not being native himself) suggested to the United States Marine Corps the idea of using the Navajo language to develop a code that the enemy could not crack.
Initially, 29 young men were recruited to develop the code after which training began. Eventually, over 400 native men were in the program serving in every branch of the military. Some volunteered while others were drafted. All served bravely like the true warriors they were.
